Asus Laptops
Like Acer, Asus are a company that is based on Taiwan and provide a wide range of different technological hardware. While Asus are well known for their hardware components such as motherboards and graphics cards they also make laptops. Asus laptops definitely aren’t the most well known of laptop brands but they are definitely an option if you are looking for a laptop with a –good specification at a cost you can afford.
In general ASUS have a reputation as being a high quality brand when it comes to computer components and their laptops are no exception. The performance of the machines will depend on which specifications you buy but you can be sure that they will be good quality components.
A problem with Asus laptops is that while they are known to be great out of the box the customer care is often lacking. Many people have found it difficult o get hold of the support team at all and when you do you are often not able to get your laptop fixed very quickly. Asus laptops do come with a limited warranty but you should very carefully read exactly what is and isn’t included in this so that you aren’t surprised it something goes wrong and the warranty won’t cover it.
Asus UX30 Review
One option that you have when it comes to buying an Asus laptop is the new UX30. It costs about £1000 though so it a lot of money, does it live up to that large price tag? The UX30 is seen in many technological circles as the Windows answer to the Macbook Air, so it has a lot to live up to when it comes to style and design.
First of all the looks. The screen is 13.3 inches making this a very portable laptop. It is also a very thin machine so that it is easy to take with you wherever you go. There is no doubt that it looks good too making it a very attractive machine. One thing that is very important when it comes to laptops is the keyboard – especially if you are going to be using them for a long period of time. Luckily the Asus UX30 has a great keyboard so that you will be comfortable using it. However when it comes down to sheer style it can’t match up to the Apple laptops.
The performance of the UX30 is much greater than the Macbook Air so that is one area where it is a clear winner. Coming with 4GB of RAM it will be more than powerful enough for everyday use and in some cases for more graphics intensive programs too although the slightly slow processor speed may hamper the most demanding of applications.
One big downside of the UX30 is that the battery life is very poor. As this is a major strength of Macbooks in general this is disappointing and may be a big problem if you are planning on using your laptop while travelling a lot.
Overall the UX30 is a very capable machine that will be able to handle pretty much anything you can throw at it. However the price is very high and there are many similar option s available on the market for a similar price that will provide you with a more powerful machine.
