Free Compaq Laptop with Mobile Phone

Compaq were once a really prevelant manufacturer on the PC market but seemed to drop off the radar for a while. Compaq are now owned by HP and the Compaq brand seems to be around a lot more than it once was. Compaq machines are mid range in terms of price and their machines tend to be of decent quality. Compaq Laptops

Compaq as a company was originally founded in the early 1980s. They originally launched a portable computer as their first product, so you can definitely say that they have a lot of experience with building laptops. However, in 2001 Compaq merged with HP to become HP Compaq so while you might not see many Compaq laptops around anymore they are still there, just under a different name. However Compaq has kept some of its laptop ranges such as the Presario running.

In the past Compaq had lots of problems with the reliability of their machines. Sometimes they were brilliant but other times their laptops had major problems. If you managed to get a good laptop they would run for many years but it was pot luck as to whether you got one. Luckily, with the merger of HP their laptops have become much more reliable and you can be sure that you are getting a good quality machine when you buy them.

HP Compaq Presario CQ70 Review

The CQ70 has been marketed by HP Compaq as a replacement for a desktop as well as being a low budget machine. As you can imagine it is very difficult to create a true desktop replacement (i.e. able to play games and other graphically intensive applications) on a budget so you definitely do lose some performance with the CQ70 because of its price.

However if  you aren’t going to be running modern games or doing graphical editing on your laptop then the CQ70 definitely has some good points. For example you get a 17inch screen which is big enough for watching movies on comfortably. While the speed of the components are not as high as you can get from more expensive desktop replacements the CQ70 has high quality components and hence a high build quality.

The downside is that you do get a low specification machine. The graphics capabilities are very poor even for a laptop of this price and the processor is slow too. Many people have had problems getting sued tot eh touch pad too which sometimes seems to have a life of its own, which is a shame because if the laptop is going to sacrifice speed it should make sure that it does all the basics well.

Overall the CQ70 is a solid laptop if you just want to use it to browse the internet and create word documents but much more than that and you are likely to be frustrated by its lack of speed.

HP Compaq 610 Review

Another HP Compaq laptop that isn’t a desktop replacement is the 610. It is compatible with the new Windows 7 which is a bonus and comes with much better performance than the CQ70. However it is around £150 more expensive than the CQ70 and comes with a smaller screen at 15.6 inches.

While you won’t be able to play the most modern games on it the Intel GMA X3100 graphics card will allow you to at least run some graphical applications.

Like the CQ70 this is a solid laptop but there are better options available for the same price on the market. You do get the added extras such as a built in webcam but many other laptops ship with these features too.
